Nia is about enjoying being present in the body and moving to your own individual intensity level and in your body's way. This class builds upon Joseph Pilates' vision by incorporating the latest medical research, modern exercise principles and contemporary thinking about spinal rehabilitation and performance enhancement. We will develop or dive deeper into concepts of breathing, core strength, stability, mobility, posture and body awareness. Each class we will layer in new information as well as review ideas from the class before so beginners as well as those continuing their practice will take something away every time.

  Yoga

Beginning Yoga for Flexibility (a.ka. Inflexibles)

Have you shied away from yoga because you can’t ‘wrap your leg around your neck like a scarf’ or maybe just sit cross legged? This class is for you! Honor your body by learning a sequencing of poses created to open joints, as well as the use of props for physical restrictions. Start with the basics and develop a foundation to stretch and strengthen. You CAN do yoga!

Vinyasa Flow 1 & 2
(Taught by Kira Benesh, Mandy Baucum, and Terri Moody)
An invigorating practice that focuses on breath-synchronized movement to attain inner stillness. Center yourself with this creative flow of traditional yoga poses stitched together in a fresh and ever-evolving manner. Each dynamic sequence builds upon the last to create heat and release toxins. Class ends with passive poses that promote deep muscle release and mental clarity. Class is more for continuing/intermediate students, although modifications will be given for beginners.
Level of difficulty: Vinyasa Flow 1: Medium, Vinyasa Flow 2: Medium to Challenging

Gentle All Levels (Taught by Donna O'Neil & Shoshanah Thielle)
This class is designed for beginning and continuing yogis who like a gentle pace, with room to breathe. Nevertheless, we all want a challenge, and there is still work involved! You'll leave with your back feeling better, your core stronger, and your mind clearer.

Iyengar Yoga (Taught by Andrea Swartz)
Iyengar yoga uses blocks, blankets and other props to modify poses so you feel safe to explore your physical potential and enjoy your body. Its all about alignment, not whether you can touch your toes! This class will be active, but well paced, providing an ideal foundation for beginners as well as precise instruction for those seeking to deepen their practice. Peel away physical imbalances and move more deeply into your spiritual body!

Kids Yoga (Ages 3-5) (Taught by Kira Roberson)
Yoga for children plants a seed within a child that will help lead them down a path toward a calm mind and flexible body. Tools they can use for a lifetime. Classes are geared toward having fun, using the imagination and encouraging a child’s thirst for knowledge. Classes are taught in a playful environment and use songs, stories, dance, art, games, and a focus on being aware of the breath to teach children the fundamentals of yoga. Classes enhance language development, motor coordination and most importantly how to love oneself inside and out.

Prenatal Yoga (Taught by Abi Barella & Christiana Hansen)
Inside you is an innate wisdom that intuitively understands about the very natural process of birth. We help you reconnect with this wisdom, guiding you through a class specifically designed for the journey of pregnancy. Linking yoga postures with the breath will lead you to new discoveries, bringing awareness to the mind, body and spirit, and also the spirit of your baby. The class, conducted in a calm, peaceful environment will help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort. Yoga can also alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain and sciatica. A safe, open community allows you to freely discuss any issues, from discomforts and concerns, to the wonderful new changes your body and baby are experiencing.

Mom & Baby Yoga (Taught by Christiana Hansen)
A wonderful bonding time for mom and baby, and a great way to meet other mothers with infants. This well-rounded class incorporates breath awareness, gentle yoga and baby massage in a fun and nurturing environment. Connect with baby through healing touch and movement, while learning safe and effective exercises to aid post-partum recovery. Class is best suited for pre-crawling infants.

Hatha Yoga - Mixed Levels (Taught by Christiana Hansen)
This class designed to help ease chronic tightness and pain. Every week we will practice poses that will help to release not only physical tension but will also relieve mental stress as well. With a focus on problem areas such as legs and shoulders we will aid the body in learning new habits to prevent future injuries. We’ll utilize dynamic movement to get the blood moving and deepen the breath as well as restful poses to let go of anxiety and clam the mind. This is a great class to round out your regular (or not so regular) yoga routine, sport, or physical activity to help you rejuvenate both body and mind.

Restorative Yoga (Taught by Andrea Swartz)
This class creates the space, deep rest and quiet to strengthen your intrinsic wisdom. By practicing with the clear intention for healing, renewing, surrendering and accepting we can better align with what is and open ourselves to receive the blessings in our lives. What is Restorative Yoga? Restorative yoga is a yoga method using props and long hold times to open the body in a more passive way. Restorative classes are usually very relaxing and are a good complement to more active practices. Level of difficulty: Very Easy

 
  Tai Chi

Tai Chi - (Beg & Int.) (Taught by Kathryn Wells)
Tai Chi has its origins in Taoism and Martial Arts. Tai Chi is a slow-motion, moving meditative exercise for relaxation, health and self-defense. Originally from China, Tai Chi has gained popularity in America and throughout the rest of the world for its health benefits. This class teaches the 103 authentic movements developed by the Yang family (one of the top five masters in China). It combines mind-intent, use of internal and external chi, and continuity in all movements. This practice will promote better general health, greater flexibility, concentration, and balance.
